Chicago, Illinois is where Edward Anthony Masen was born, on June 20th a year after the turn of the century. Edward was named after his father, first name only with no complaints from his mother. But being the second Edward in the Masen family he was never, ever referred to as junior, his parents weren’t really all that fond of nicknames, except for his mother that sometimes went as Beth, her name being Elizabeth. His family was rather well off for the time, his father being a rather successful lawyer for the time. His mother stayed home to watch him, while he spent his childhood as most males did, finding a bit of trouble here and there. He often returned from playing with bruises and scraps that worried his mother but his father soothed her telling that Edward was just a natural boy and it was fairly regular behaviour.

As the years grew closer to the teens along with Edward his mother grew worried. Talks of war had hit the neighbourhood and young Edward wanted nothing more then to serve his country, at one point he considered lying about his age if he had to. When the war finally broke out his mother was pleased to know he’d have to wait until he was eighteen and everyone figured the war would be finished by that point. This wasn’t the case, and the time was drawing closer, but so was another date that all three members weren’t aware of. Shortly after turning seventeen, the conscription age being lowered to 18, Edward was one year away. But that wasn’t his path, months after his birthday, Edward and his family came down with the Spanish influenza, and honestly it could have been worse. Their doctor, Dr. Cullen couldn’t be nicer.

His father was the first to go, while his mother’s case got worse he seemed to be doing okay, but hope of recovery wasn’t looking good when he could barely stay awake a week later. Edward often heard his mother and Dr. Cullen whispering but couldn’t make anything out. Little did he know his mother was pleading for her sons life, it didn’t take much, the doctor was very compassionate. When his mother died, and Edward was taking a turn for the worse, Dr. Cullen carried him to his house one night. That night Edward would have taken death, over what Dr. Cullen did. That night Edward was bitten and started the transformation into a vampire. That was the night Edward Anthony Masen technically died, and with the pain he felt he wished it actually happened. But Carlisle as Edward was told, was there throughout the painful three day process talking him through it telling him it would get better. To his surprise it did, of course that was until his thirst got a hold of him and he was told he had to hunt animals. It took some convincing but Edward agreed.

Everything was explained that night to Edward, and they figured out something else. While they were talking Edward would answer question that Carlisle didn’t ask, aloud. They figured out he had the ability to read thoughts, and there didn’t seem to be restrictions. Edward wasn’t able to mingle with humans for a good year, when Carlisle thought he made enough progress. At times he assisted Carlisle unless there was blood then he had to leave. From that point on Edward became Edward Cullen, the son of Carlisle since he was forever seventeen, nothing he minded. He didn’t become depressed or anything because he was a monster, feeding off animals redeemed him for that in his mind. It wasn’t long before he and Carlisle moved on, he learned he couldn’t stay in once place to long, that would be his last time in Chicago. As they moved on he learned their stop in Wisconsin had brought Carlisle back to Esme, who just happened to join them after a suicide attempt. This allowed Edward to play two parts, either their son (since the two adults married soon afterward) or Esme’s younger brother.

In 1927, Edward rebelled against his parent figures deciding he could do as he pleased. He strayed from Carlisle and Esme and started feeding off of humans, though with is reading thoughts ability he preyed on criminals and those that had little morals, that should die but escaped it every time. This lasted three years in total not being able to stand the guilt he was feeling he returned to Esme and Carlisle, who to his surprise acted like he never left. He did get a stiff warning not to go off without contact by Esme ever again. He apologized for a while for doing what he did, but Carlisle understood. After his return he wasn’t the lone teenager for long. Arriving in New York, the family of three were in the same spot where Rosalie Hale called her home. She was the next to join, supposedly as a mate for Edward. This didn’t work, they were better suited as brother and sister, since they bickered like biological ones. They had many disagreements, Edward’s main one being about Carlisle changing her. Rosalie soon found Emmett, saving him and he joined as a Cullen, Rosalie remaining hale and Edward welcomed Emmett, more so then Rosalie but he liked them both the same.

Edward was with the family when the four first entered forks, it was easy going at first until they met up with the Quileute tribe, who actually had a problem with them living in Forks. A treaty was formed, forbidding the Cullen family to venture to La Push or bite a human in either town. It was simply followed, since Edward had no problem not biting another human being after his crime fighting days. The family only stayed until Carlisle could no longer pass for an age and then they were gone, this is when more members entered the family, but they weren’t exactly the last.

When Alice and Jasper entered their lives, Edward was a bit stunned, not because of the new additions but just because of how it happened. He returned home one day, and going to park his car, couldn’t get in the garage, it being filled with everything in his room. Carrying a box in the house he inquired why his stuff was in boxes only to have Alice confront him telling him everything about what happened, and who he was and why she’d taken his room. After that the two have gotten along ever since, Edward liking to call them freaks among freaks for their inconvenient gifts. While the family stayed away from Forks for a few years, they made friends with another vegge vampire family in Denali Alaska. After their time in Alaska the Cullen family, now seven vampires strong returned to Forks, still honouring their treaty and occupying a nice and large glass like house off a dirt road the ‘children’ enrolled in high school once again. This is where Edward’s life changed forever, and for the good.

Edward a year or so after his family returned, Chief Swan announced his daughter would be staying with him, Edward thought of this as no big deal, boy was he wrong.

It would probably take a lot to convince someone that Edward had just decided to visit Rosalie with no ulterior motive. They didn’t get along that well for casual visits, mind you the relationship did improve a lot since they met, it just didn’t appear that way to outsiders. He wasn’t exactly as mean to her as he could be, having heard a lot of the things that she’s thought about him. Whether purposely just because she knew he would hear her or not, he still could have been less nice. But he also knew many things she wouldn’t want him to know, how there was a much nicer side to her then anyone, other then Emmett got to see. Though valuing his head too much he’d never voice that to anyone, even Bella. He wasn’t innocent though in their sibling relationship, he instigated the arguments sometimes, when he got annoyed with her self-indulged thoughts. Sort of like the ones she was having now but he ignored them and threw them to the back of his mind forgetting about them completely for the time being.

Edward let out a low sigh, he’d laced his words with too much sarcasm, more then he’d actually wanted to. Not exactly the best wording choice when she was in a mood like this but he could deal with it, he’d handled her in worse situations. His jaw clenched slightly, he wasn’t going to let her get under his skin that easy, it would be too quick. “So I’ve struck a nerve…” he hissed slightly under his breath, his golden eyes flashing up to rest on his sister as she started pacing the room. He stayed in his spot, crossing his arms over his chests. “There was some honesty in those words Rosalie.” He hissed back watching her move around the room. “Your not the only one being separated from the family or Renesmee, none of us like this arrangement any more then you do.” Edward said glaring at her slightly. He hadn’t wanted her to get to him that easily of course she always did. He rolled his eyes at her thought, “I did not come here to throw that in your face. I’m not that cruel” Edward said, though he didn’t like to comment on her thoughts, that one he felt deserved to be cleared up.

He looked at his sister when she stared back at him after asking the question. Edward didn’t exactly have a solidified answer for that, nor did he really want a heart to heart or whatever it would be with Rosalie. But it seemed like she’d be the only one he could tell his concerns without her passing judgement or saying it was just something he’d have to live with. His eyes had found there way to the window until he caught one of her thoughts. She thought he was fine with this? that was enough to bring his eyes quickly back to her and make him move from the door frame. “You think I’m fine with the fact that my daughter is going to be marrying Jacob? The guy I’d hoped would have been out of my life after Bella was changed?” He snarled. Yes he’d entertained the idea, even made some what of a peace sort of thing with Jacob over the last few years just too keep things running smoothly, though he was making an effort. “So maybe I just stopped by because I knew you had similar thoughts on this whole arrangement. That you wouldn’t be humour my thoughts all the while thinking I’m overreacting.” Edward said through clenched teeth staring back at his sister.
